“That’s a sweet ride!” I heard that and many other compliments during my week with the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe. It’s a head turner for sure with its sloping roofline, crest-shaped grille, twin-line headlights, and a small rear spoiler. The GV 80 Coupe is the sportier version of the impressive GV80 SUV. Both are among the nicest luxury midsize SUVs you can get.

Genesis became a luxury brand in 2015, after splitting from the Hyundai line-up, and has produced many nice vehicles that provide all the upscale features and tech you expect in a luxury line.
The coupe styling for SUVs and crossovers has become more popular in recent years with offerings from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche. Now, the Genesis GV80 Coupe becomes the latest entry in the luxury SUV coupe segment.
The five-passenger 2025 GV80 Coupe comes in two trims: 3.5T and 3.5T E-Supercharger. Starting prices are $79,950 and $85,750. All-wheel drive is standard on both trims.
The 2025 GV80 is powered by a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 that is available with or without an electronic, 48-volt supercharger. Models without the supercharger make 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. With the supercharger, these jump to 409 horses and 405 pound-feet. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic.
While the GV80 has decent performance chops, it’s more about a cushy and comfortable ride than sheer power. Still, acceleration is brisk, launching the GV80 from zero to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds. This isn’t as fast, though, as rivals from BMW and Porsche. Steering is a bit light and there is some body roll when cornering. As a cruiser, the GV80 excels. There’s plenty of power for easy merging and passing on the highway. The eight-speed shifts so quickly and accurately that you hardly realize it’s doing its job. The suspension soaks up bumps and rough roads. Visibility is pretty good all the way around – the rear window is larger than in other SUV coupes.
You can choose from five drive modes: Comfort, Smart, Eco, Sport, and Custom. These adjust steering weight, throttle response, and suspension firmness. There’s also an available Sport+ mode with a higher engine idle, maximum torque and sportier suspension tuning.
When properly equipped, the 2025 GV80 Coupe can tow up to 6,000 pounds.
Fuel economy is a little below average for a midsize luxury SUV. EPA ratings for my tester are 18 mpg city and 22 mpg highway with a combined rating of 20. I got 20 mpg during my week with a mix of city and highway driving.
The cabin easily rivals what you’ll find in other luxury brands. It’s beautiful with top notch materials including Nappa leather and microfiber suede headliner. The seats are made of elegant diamond-quilted leather that’s exclusive to the GV80 Coupe. Those riding up front have good leg- and headroom. The backseat has plenty of room for all but very tall passengers, as the sloping roofline doesn’t eat up much space. The cabin is quiet as a library with a standard active noise-cancelling system and plenty of soundproofing materials. A huge 27-inch OLED screen stretches across the dash as the instrument cluster and infotainment screen are combined in one impressive display. Some nice unexpected features – the center console armrest warms up when you have the seat heaters on. And the “mood curator” lets you pick the interior ambiance with music, lighting and fragrance.
Standard features include proximity keyless entry, remote start, push-button start, rearview camera, surround view camera system, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, three-zone climate control, Nappa leather seating, matte finish wood trim, leatherette wrapped upper instrument panel, microfiber suede headliner and pillars, power-adjustable front seats with four-way power lumbar, power-adjustable second-row seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated front console armrest, heated and ventilated rear seats, power rear sunshades, 27-inch OLED instrument cluster and infotainment system with navigation, Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, HD Radio, satellite radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, soft-close doors, Genesis logo puddle lamps, automatic high beams, 20-inch sport alloy wheels, Genesis digital key (lets you use your smartphone to lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine), and a fingerprint authentication system (lets you start the vehicle and load driver preferences with the touch of a finger).
Available features include carbon fiber trim, alloy pedals, black front brake calipers, and 22-inch sport alloy wheels.
Standard driver assistance technologies include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist 2 (maintains a selected distance and speed from the vehicle in front and helps center the GV80 Coupe in its lane), lane keeping assist, lane following assist (keeps the vehicle centered in its lane by recognizing lane markets and the vehicle traveling in front), adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, blind spot view monitor, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear emergency braking, parking sensors, remote smart parking assist, and driver attention monitoring.
The infotainment system looks awesome and is part of the expansive 27-inch OLED screen that stretches across the dash. Menus are logically arranged, and the system responds quickly to touch and voice commands. There are handy physical controls for volume, tuning and temperature adjustments.
Cargo space is decent with 30.3 cubes with both rows of seating in place and 62.1 cubes with the second row folded: The wide opening makes it easy to load large and/or bulky items. The rear seat split-folds 40/20/40, providing flexibility in hauling passengers and stuff. A power hands-free liftgate with auto-open is standard.
The GV80 Coupe has the excellent warranty from Genesis: a five-year/60,000-mile basic and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Genesis also throws in three years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance.
The good:
Eye-catching appearance
Choice of two powerful engines
Beautiful, elegant interior with top notch materials
Smooth, comfortable ride
Loaded with standard features and tech
Standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Excellent warranty
The not-so-good:
Not as athletic as some rivals

Pricing info:
My tester starts at $85,750. Bering Blue paint is $650. NFC keycard is $30. The destination fee is $1,350, bringing the grand total to $87,780.
Bottom line:
Genesis is the real deal when it comes to making luxury vehicles, and the new 2025 GV80 Coupe has the panache and all of the features and tech you’d expect. With its eye-catching and elegant appearance, smooth and comfortable ride, gorgeous interior, and excellent warranty, the GV80 Coupe is a worthy entry in the growing SUV Coupe category.
