The 2025 Buick Enclave is large and in charge and has many luxury touches. This handsome and spacious three-row family hauler is the largest SUV from Buick and is the company’s flagship model. It comes well-equipped with many features you’d find in a luxury brand.
Base Price: $58,000
As Tested: $65,125
Horsepower: 328
Mileage: 19 mpg city/24 mpg highway/21 mpg combined
The Enclave is redesigned for 2025 and is now in its third generation. It’s longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model. Buick did away with sedans starting with the 2021 model year and has been updating its SUV line-up.
On the exterior, the 2025 Enclave looks more like a boxy SUV than the outgoing model. It sports new Buick badging, and the grille gets certain touches depending on the trim. An automatic power liftgate becomes standard. And the Enclave becomes the first Buick to offer Super Cruise, GM’s semi-autonomous driving technology.
The 2025 Enclave comes in three trims: Preferred, Sport Touring and Avenir. Starting prices are $46,395, $48,795 and $59,395. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available on every trim. There’s room for seven passengers in three rows of seating.
The 2025 Enclave is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine that makes 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. This is the same engine as the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic.
The Enclave drives, well, like a three-row crossover, which means it’s all about comfort instead of thrilling performance. Acceleration is relatively brisk for a large vehicle, and there’s plenty of power for merging and passing at freeway speeds. Steering is light but responsive. The engine can get loud when you floor the accelerator – it can sound unrefined. This detracts from the otherwise serene cabin. The ride is smooth and the suspension does a good job in soaking up bumps and rough roads. All in all, the Enclave is pleasant and easy to drive, which is what you want in a large family hauler.
When properly equipped, the 2025 Enclave can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Fuel economy is average for a midsize SUV. EPA ratings for my AWD tester are 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with a combined rating of 21. I got 21 mpg during my week with a mix of city and highway driving.
The attractive cabin is tasteful and upscale, bordering on what you’d find in a luxury brand, and is also very quiet. Front seats are spacious and supportive. A huge curved 30-inch driver display and infotainment system stretches across the dash. Captain’s chairs in the second row are comfortable and roomy enough for adults, and they can be moved back and forth in order to accommodate adults in the third row.
Standard features include remote start, proximity key, push-button start, rearview camera, surround view camera system, tri-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, first row power heated seats with four-way lumbar support, eight-way power driver seat, six-way power front passenger seat, heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, 30-inch driver display and touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, 12-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capable, customizable ambient lighting, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Available features include a head-up display, perforated leatherette upholstery, quilted and perforated leather seating, driver’s seat memory settings, heated and ventilated front seats, front seats with lumbar massage feature, heated second row seats, one-touch folding second row seats, power-folding third row seats, 16-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system, 110-volt power outlet, walk-up lighting animation, universal garage door opener, rain-sensing wipers, roof rack cross rails, and a panoramic sunroof.
Standard driver assistance technologies include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic braking, rear pedestrian alert, rear park assist, automatic parking assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear seat reminder.
Available driver assistance technologies include Super Cruise, GM’s semi-autonomous driving technology.
The driver display and infotainment system looks great with its curved 30-inch display. Buick points out that this screen is the largest in its class. There are many menus and submenus so it can take time to get used to the system. It responds quickly to touch and voice commands. The display can be personalized so you can see the screens you want. There are several physical controls for volume and climate settings.
Cargo space is a little less than in the outgoing Enclave but still generous for a for a midsize SUV. There are 23 cubic feet behind the third row, 57 cubes with the third row folded, and 97.5 cubes with the second and third rows folded. There’s also a large storage area under the floor. A hands-free power liftgate is standard.
The good:
Handsome looks
Smooth, comfortable ride
Upscale cabin
Spacious interior – even the third row is ok for adults
Huge 30-inch curved display
Many standard and available features and tech
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
The not-so-good:
Engine can sound unrefined
Pricing info:
