2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the Oregon State Park system. To commemorate the occasion, the Oregon Historical Society commissioned renowned Oregon photographer Peter Marbach to capture images of many of the 254 beautiful parks established in the state in the past century.
The exhibit “Century of Wonder,” opening May 13, features thirty images, narrowed down from hundreds Marbach shot while on the road in 2020 and 2021. From the Wreck of the Peter Iredale at Fort Stevens State Park to the bend in the John Day River in Cottonwood Canyon State Park to sunset at Face Rock State Park (pictured here), these stunning art photography images capture some of Oregon’s most protected and beloved places.
“Century of Wonder” will be on display at the Oregon Historical Society’s museum through October. AAA members gain free entry starting May 13 through October 16, 2022—just show your AAA membership card for free admission. After the exhibit closes in Portland, it will enter the society’s permanent collection and transition to a traveling exhibit—meaning “Century of Wonder” may arrive at a museum near you.
