Voice-based technology helps diners choose from among 31,000 approved locations

BOISE – (March 22, 2018) – Grab a fork and dig into a delicious meal at a restaurant near you, but before you go, grab your smartphone or mobile device.

AAA is pleased to announce that a simple voice command to Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant now provides access to more than 31,000 AAA Diamond-Rated restaurants, including 226 locations in Idaho.

AAA’s detailed information on Inspected & Approved restaurants across the country has long been available in paper TourBooks and through searchable online resources, but the new voice-based technology further enables travelers to identify food options in their immediate vicinity.

“AAA Diamond Ratings are an objective standard that travelers can trust,” said AAA Idaho spokesman Matthew Conde. “But sometimes people need the information to make a quick decision, especially when it’s time to pick a restaurant.  This new platform provides convenient access for consumers on the go.”

How does it work?

Here are some helpful tips and commands to find a AAA Diamond-Rated restaurant:

  • “Alexa, tell AAA to find me a restaurant.”
  • “Okay Google, tell AAA Restaurants to find me a restaurant.”
  • Remember to pronounce AAA as “Triple A.”
  • Alexa users must “enable the skill” before they can access Diamond-Rated restaurants

“AAA’s technology takes a lot of the guesswork out of finding the perfect place to try local cuisine and experience an adventure,” Conde said. “Over time, AAA will enhance the technology with greater compatibility and additional features.”

Travelers are encouraged to pair the new technology with the AAA mobile app, which offers a wealth of helpful information that includes the location of the cheapest fuel in the area. For more details, go to AAA.com/mobile.
