BOISE – April is Car Care Month, and while the open road awaits, AAA reminds drivers to make sure their vehicles are up to the task.
“If you’ve neglected routine maintenance on your car, your road trip or weekend getaway could be over before it begins,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “Now is an excellent time to get things back on track. Checking fluid levels and tire pressure is a good place to start.”
AAA recommends visiting a trusted mechanic for a complete vehicle inspection. This is especially important if you’ve experienced:
- New or unusual noises
- Engine leaks, or dripping in your garage or driveway
- Vibration or pulling in your vehicle
- Squeaking belts or brakes
“Just like visiting the dentist, a checkup can catch an issue while it’s small and much more manageable,” Conde said. “While AAA is honored to help drivers at the roadside, it’s best to prevent mishaps where possible rather than deal with them after the fact.”
This April, AAA is teaming up with NAPA to go green. AAA members who bring an old car battery to a participating NAPA location for recycling will receive an instant $10 NAPA reward. For the do-it-yourselfers, NAPA also offers AAA members a discount on parts and accessories.
