BOISE – (February 19, 2025) – AAA has added DC fast charging at its Boise Service Center and at several Oregon locations – the quickest, most effective way to charge electric vehicles.

“We’re proud to offer DC fast charging.  This helps enable the EV road trip and ease range anxiety by making charging quick and convenient,” says Tim Morgan, President and CEO of AAA Oregon/Idaho.  “AAA has helped keep drivers on the go for more than 100 years.  Our members who drive EVs know that charging infrastructure is still sporadic.  Our DC fast chargers will help drivers get from point A to point B, no matter what kind of fuel they use.”

AAA’s latest service is facilitated by ChargePoint DC fast chargers, which can charge an EV battery to 80% in 20-30 minutes.  AAA members receive a 50% discount on DC fast charging and Level 2 charging at our AAA locations, with availability in the following areas:

AAA services for EV drivers

The addition of DC fast charging is the latest of many services offered by AAA Oregon/Idaho for EV drivers.  Other services include Level 2 EV charging, mobile charging for EVs at the roadside, digital tools to help EV drivers plan trips and locate EV charging stations, reviews of electric vehicles, and information about the costs of EV charging.  Learn more at AAA.com/charge.

Level 2 EV charging has been available for several years at many AAA Oregon/Idaho Service Centers and will continue to be offered.  Level 2 is the most common type of charging, providing 10 to 75 miles of range per hour depending on the vehicle.

AAA – a history of innovation

Boise, Bend, Portland, Eugene, and Medford are metro areas where AAA provides mobile charging for EVs at the roadside.  AAA Oregon/Idaho first launched the service as part of a pilot program back in 2011.  AAA was the first motor club in North America to offer a roadside assistance truck with the capacity to charge electric vehicles.

The service trucks with mobile EV charging capability provide a Level 2 charge – about 10 to 14 miles of range in about 30 minutes – to help EV drivers get home or to a charging station.  EV mobile charging is available for all levels of AAA membership.

“Our commitment at AAA is to provide our legendary service to our members and all the types of vehicles they drive.  As the popularity of electric vehicles continues to grow, we want to ensure that people can drive their EVs with convenient places to get quick charging while on-the-go,” adds Morgan.

AAA Oregon/Idaho also has several electric vehicles as part of its fleet, including Ford F-150 Lightning pickups and a Ford E-Transit van.  EV service vehicles are used to complete light services for battery, tire, and fuel-related vehicle issues.

AAA continues to educate the driving public about electric vehicles, providing unbiased information to help them make their own transportation decisions.
