BOISE – As Idaho families continue to take vacations to wrap up the summer, they may see a little more pain at the pump. According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the Gem State is $3.53, a five cent jump overnight that is 11 cents more than a month ago but ten cents less than a year ago.
The national average currently sits at $3.16 per gallon, which is three cents more than a week ago and two cents more than a month ago, but 31 cents cheaper than a year ago. Idaho remains in 7th place for the most expensive fuel.
“Drivers are fueling up in droves to cross final summer travel plans off their list,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “Lots of vehicles travel from and through the Treasure Valley, Idaho Falls and Pocatello are gateways to Yellowstone and Grand Teton, and Bear Lake is a popular summer destination. Seasonal fuel demand can profoundly affect gas prices.”
According to the Energy Information Administration, U.S. gasoline stocks fell by three million barrels, while demand increased by another 200,000 barrels per day. Tighter supplies and surging demand can apply upward pressure on gas prices.
Meanwhile, the cost of crude oil has remained steady, with the West Texas Intermediate trading near $65 per barrel. That’s nearly $2 per barrel less than a month ago.
Here’s a look at Idaho gas prices as of 8/5/25:
- Boise – $3.58 (up seven cents from yesterday)
- Coeur d’Alene – $3.34
- Franklin – $3.35 (up four cents from yesterday)
- Idaho Falls – $3.45 (up ten cents from yesterday)
- Lewiston – $3.29
- Pocatello – $3.50 (up eight cents from yesterday)
- Rexburg – $3.53
