BOISE – (July 16, 2025) – After weeks of rising gas prices, Idaho prices leveled off this week.

According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular is $3.48, which is about a penny more than a week ago and 19 cents more than a month ago, but 12 cents less than a year ago.

The national average currently sits at $3.16 per gallon, which is the same as a week ago, two cents more than a month ago, and a whopping 36 cents per gallon cheaper than a year ago.

Idaho currently ranks 7th in the country for the most expensive fuel behind California ($4.51), Hawaii ($4.48), Washington ($4.40), Oregon ($4.00), Nevada ($3.77) and Alaska ($3.75).

“Any money that stays in our pocket during the busy summer road trip season is a good thing.  But the gap between what we paid a year ago and what we’re paying today is narrowing,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde.  “Thankfully, the crude oil market has been fairly calm lately, preventing further impacts at the pump.”

The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude is currently trading near $66 per barrel, which is about $2 less than a week ago and nearly $15 cheaper than a year ago.

“Bundle your day-to-day errands and try to avoid peak traffic congestion to stretch your fuel budget,” Conde said.  “Coming off of a record high for July 4th holiday travel, we anticipate a very busy summer on the roads.”
