BOISE – (July 20, 2026) – Idaho gas prices are on the move, with the state average rising about six cents this week. According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular is $4.05, which is 19 cents less than a month ago but 48 cents more than a year ago.
The national average is also back at $4 per gallon. This week’s 13-cent jump is five cents more than a month ago and 86 cents more than a year ago. Idaho currently ranks 17th in the country for the most expensive fuel.
“Crude oil prices are getting rough again. As conditions deteriorate in the Strait of Hormuz and as military action resumes, the market grows more skeptical about the fate of future crude supplies,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “As crude goes, so goes gasoline.”
The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude is currently trading around $82 per barrel, up $12 from the beginning of the month and $16 more than a year ago.
“Keep bundling your trips and looking for ways to avoid peak traffic congestion,” Conde said. “We’re heading for choppy waters until we see a lasting resolution in the Middle East.”
